The B-list

A few weeks ago I had a my-stomach-hurts-so-bad-I-need-to-go-the-hospital type episode. It was never clarified whether it was a bout of severe food poisoning or some weird illness. Of course the aftermath lasted a couple of weeks and now I feel like I should be preparing for round two. I feel weak. As much as I hate to say this, Ramadan has left me exhausted this year. That coupled with a jippy tummy spells uh-oh.
I need sleep. Lots of it please.
I’ve had quite the ‘celebrity’ filled week. Firstly, I had the great pleasure of meeting Nobby Stiles, in Asda of all places. He was quite the gent and when I was talking to him a group of young boys squinted at the posters announcing the launch of his autobiography and shouted “Who’s Bobby Stills?!” Mr Stiles laughed heartily and had a little chat with the lads who eventually realised who he was and seemed to be made up. I suppose we have to wait a while before Jonny Wilkinson has people trying to remember what he’s famous for. Another thirty seven years perhaps.
The celeb spotting action continued at the airport on Sunday. I walked past Alex Parks, winner of this year’s Fame Academy. She looks exactly the same as she does on the telly. What you see is what you get with her, no tons of make-up and hairspray. We were contemplating stalking her and asking for a photo with her or possibly an autograph but then realised how sad that would actually be and headed home instead.
What with all this mingling with the stars, fasting, lack of sleep and poor health I’d better get to bed.

  1. I promise not to turn this into a huge lecture, so I’ll make it a short one instead…slow down, get more sleep and put your feet up every now and then. Don’t feel guilty for sitting down. ;o) take lots of care. xx

  4. No more dancing in the rain until you are in tip-top shape.
My best celebrity experience, if you’ll indulge me for a moment, was at a tribute to Sean Penn in Santa Barabara. I was in a small group talking with Kevin Spacey, while Sean and his wife Robin Wright Penn were at my elbow. Also at this fete were a bunch of American actors you probably have not heard of across the pond: Angelica Huston, Vince Vaughn, David Spade, Jon Voigt, Peter Coyote, Mickey Rourke, and some others I can’t remember now. Sean Penn is larger than life, but short, short, short.

  5. Will: friend to the stars 🙂
I have heard of all of those actors. In fact, Mickey Rourke was recently on the Graham Norton show.
