Kewl

What is up with that? I can understand short cuts and abbreviations. U instead of you, r instead of are. I’ll even tolerate lol for Christ’s sake. But kewl?! It is just a deliberately misspelt word the same length as its original! It’s not shorter so the ‘saving time’ argument doesn’t work. And it’s not hip, believe me. And it’s not ‘cool’.

  1. You are right….what is that all about :0 It’s not even worth using it, is it?
Some people have too much time on their hands.

  2. I don’t mind a lot of the web abbreviations, but I hate the whole “kewl” thing. I agree – what’s the point of spelling it like that?

  3. I thought it was OK. Text is pretty limited when it comes to pronounciation. Cool is a word that is used so much that i welcome a different accent.
I also read it as coo_ell. Sort of extra cool? Better than lol anyway, which should be banished to the chat rooms.
I’d like to hear an argument for the use of the strikethrough tag in your html. Seams pretty useless / annoying to me. And it sure aint hip.

  4. The strikethrough tag was to cross out the part that was no longer true in the post but to still keep the text there for posterity maybe. And everything I do is hip, so that’s ok.
