To those who still care,
I don’t owe the general public an explanation for my absence from the web but to the few loyal readers and ‘web’ friends who still visit, only to find the odd sporadic post that is either cryptic or meaningless, I feel I need to let you know what has happened to SaimaSays.com.
A lot has happened in the last few months. Some of it good, some it worrying, some of it devastating.
Things were good for a while, it seemed everything was finally coming together in our lives, my family’s that is. I started my new job where things are relaxed, I love the people I work with and my CIMA courses are not the major undertaking I though they would be. My sisters were all happy in their respective studies. My mum was happy, building work had finally started to transform her house into the image of that dream home she’d been holding in her head for so many years.
Then it happened. I went to work with a sick feeling in my stomach. Something was going to happen today, I knew it. And then it did. One phone call from my sister and my world crumbled. Priorities rearranged during that one (what seemed to be an eternal) car ride home. I saw my mum in that ambulance, scared and helpless, my heart broke a million times. I wanted to close my eyes and return to a world where buying the right pair of shoes was my biggest worry. But it can’t go back to that world and won’t go back to that world.
I want to appreciate my mum (who is recovering well), my dad and my entire family. I want to spend time with them. I want to push us towards becoming a healthy family again. I want to savour every second because it only takes one second’s contemplation of their absence to realign the mind. To realise what you’ve been missing all this time and realise how silly the little arguments were.
Life has changed. Any step I take, any plan I make, I need to consider my family, we all need to consider each other. I’m fine with that, happy even. Finally, I’m thinking straight.
I hope this explains why ‘Update my site’ and ‘Surf the web’ have become #697 and #698 in my things to do list. I’ve worked hard on this site in the past and my passion for the web and writing hasn’t disappeared overnight. Where time is scarce however it will always be spent with the people I love first.
I will be back.
